Washburn University Board of Regents
Finance Committee Meeting - January 16, 2007
Athletics Conditioning Facility Options
It is likely that the athletic conditioning facility will go to the full Board of Regents for their consideration. The administration has proposed two options, 1) conversion of Whiting, or 2) conversion of the pool. An Athletics Conditioning Center Options and Comparisons Report listing the advantages/disadvantages and costs for each option was presented to the Committee members. The Committee took no action on the new athletic conditioning center options.
Greek Village Project
In other business, the Committee rejected implementation of a Greek Village on campus and deferred a decision on relocation of facility services from the two metal buildings in the center of campus to a new facility to be located between the softball and baseball facilities.
Salary Program for FY 08
The Washburn University Board of Regents Budget & Finance Committee voted to recommend a 4% salary pool budget increase for FY 08. The budget pro forma presented to the Committee members suggests a 6.3% tuition increase ($11 per credit hour) to pay for the salary program.
The salary pool will be distributed based upon performance. Separate funding for faculty salary enhancements was not part of the discussion. The administration continues to utilize faculty salary comparisons to justify administrative pay increases.
